Ownership

The ownership of the hotel, and the relationship between Misr Hotels Co. and the government is governed by Presidential Decree No. 18 for 1964

The hotel, and the  adjacent  annex buildings, (except for the land they are on) are now owned completely by Misr Hotels Co.

Minister of Finance has agreed to renew the usufruction right of the Land on which The Hotel is built for another 25 years ending on 20/2/2084 and the presidential decree is currently ruling in this concern

Renovation Plan
Since its inauguration in 1959, the Nile Hotel, located in the heart of Cairo by the Nile banks, has been always preserving its own in addition to some of Egypt's heritage thus having strong affinity with the Egyptian people as well as business and tourist guests leaving memorable moments in the heart and mind of everyone. Therefore, the Owning Company intends to rehabilitate the hotel and convert it into a 5 star Ritz Carlton Hotel as per the specified project program; expecting the hotel architectural and interior design legacy and historical characteristics to be retained yet achieving a delicate balance between old and new, classic and modern.
Misr Hotels Company has decided it was time to invest money in the hotel –700 million EGP) – to bring it up to a higher standard.
The two–year renovation itself, entirely funded by Misr Hotels Co., will see a complete renovation of the hotel. The contracting company has not been chosen yet; WZMH the Architects and HBA the Interior Designers have been chosen by both Misr Hotels Co . And the Ritz – Carlton.
Project Description
The Project comprises the rehabilitation of the existing main building including 327 guestrooms/suites  ,  main building existing public areas with additional spaces to be constructed at the Nile side , demolishing the office extension building and shopping mall , construction a new conference
ball room in place of the demolished buildings in addition to a 2 story        underground parking levels
Moreover, the whole hotel infrastructure and engineering building services shall be replaced with the up to date highest standard systems
The rooms will be enlarged and the offices annex building and the commercial center will be torn down to improve the view
The demolition works of the extension building on Tahrir Square have started on March 23rd 2009 and was awarded to the Arab Contractors (Osman Ahmed Osman & co.)
The expected total built up area is almost 75 000 m2
The construction of a convention center with capacity of 1100 seats
Restaurant & Terrace will be located at the Tennis court actual location overlooking the Nile with a capacity of 200- 250 seats
A Spa at the second floor
An underground parking at the back of the hotel on tow levels with capacity of 500 cars.
